All of the U.S. EPA’s horses and all the UNEP’s men have been working on our POPs contaminated water for decades and have gotten nowhere. We, the people of planet Earth, need to stop the use of PCBs and the agricultural use of persistent, bioaccumulative, toxic pesticides so we can breathe clean air and preserve the wildlife and the aboriginal life of the Arctic.
The message of Cold, Clear and Deadly only defines the problem it does not provide a solution. When feeling smug, I like to think that I’ve taken the ball down to the opposition’s twenty yard line into the Red Zone and we’re ready to score. In reality, I’ve just introduced the problem. With only you and me and a few others aware of what is needed, nothing will happen. Only through the awareness of millions will we get the so called developing countries, those folks who supply us with the keypad I’m pounding, the PC it is tied to, the monitor I look up at now and then, and just about everything that Walmart sells to stop and put a little priority on protecting our environment.
Not using PCBs and persistent pesticides isn’t rocket science the developed world has been conforming for decades. A model exists. Let’s break the inertia and move forward.
