Researchers found good correlation between blood levels of heptachlor and Dieldrin.
Quoting the article:
Higher levels of two organochlorine pesticides banned in the U.S. for almost all purposes since the 1970s and 1980s, dieldrin (P=0.027) and heptachlor epoxide (P=0.009), were also significantly associated […]

California Lakes PCB Contaminated

Posted by Mel on May 26th, 2009

Silverwood Lake, a water reservoir for southern California contains “surprising” amounts of PCBs:

The only real surprise is that health officials are surprised to find PCBs in waters anywhere in the U.S. They come into our waters through contaminated air and ALL our waters have PCBs in them and will have until PCBs are globally banned.

The Stockholm Convention is meeting with the agenda below. It is good to see that they are thinking of seeing if PCBs are really declining. After eight years and nobody is checking progress? There is no indication that PCBs, chlordane, or toxaphene are reducing in global use. Why would poor […]

Posted by Mel on May 2nd, 2009

That is the title of the article at: http://www.commondreams.org/newswire/2009/04/30-12
It is posted by an organization called Common Dreams and addresses the upcoming Stockholm Convention meetings to discuss the banning of Lindane and other chemicals under the Stockholm Agreement of 2001. The U.S. is a “powerful observer” at these discussions, even though the U.S.Senate has not ratified […]
